Philippine police announced arrest of a network of online sexual extortion

Philippine police announced the arrest of dozens of people suspected of involvement in the formation of a gang committing sexual extortion operations online.

Police said the defendants persuaded people from other countries to strip naked in front of cameras, the Internet, or send the contents of their own.

After that, the suspects threatened their victims to send footage to their relatives if they did not pay money.

The commander of the Philippine National Police, Alan Purisima, said 58 people were arrested in connection with an investigation with the participation of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
